collecting money all year long in our coin jar and then using that money to donate holiday meals, Angel Tree gifts and canned goods through our church.
Last year I took our change to the Coinstar counting machine at the local grocery store... I was not in the mood to count coins. This year, I decided to save my 9 cents on the dollar and roll it myself. It really wasn't that bad. Both the girls helped, in their own way, and we were done in no time.
This year we were able to give 2 families a Thanksgiving meal, sponsor 2 children for the Happy Birthday Jesus party at church, give 3 canned good boxes from Sam's Club, donate a roll of wrapping paper, and give 2 little girls a Christmas present through Angel Tree.
We really aren't saying all this to brag...but it's simply amazing what change can amount to!
All year long when we put money in our jar we do it knowing it's just more money we will be able to give at the end of the year!
**Ryan asked Avery last week what her favorite holiday was. She responded "Christmas". He asked her why (fully intending to hear some response about toys or getting gifts). Instead she said "Because it is a time that we give to others!" She's so right, now if we can carry that awesome attitude throughout the whole year!**

That is so awesome! You have inspired me to do something with all of that change we have lying around! You have made such a difference and taught the girls about giving too! :)
What a neat idea. We don't have a single cent in our house though because we don't use any cash!
