Tag's Please!!!
It was about 6:00 last night and I was exhausted. Ryan was working late at the restaurant and I needed to give Avery a bath and put her to bed soon. I walked by my front door and saw a man standing in the street with 2 dogs talking to my neighbor Melissa. She motioned for me to come outside and asked me if I had ever seen one of the dogs this man had on a leash. It was big dog, some kind of chocolate lab I was told. The man had seen the dog running around as he was walking his dog and saw it almost get hit by a car. Melissa and I had never seen this dog in our neighborhood but were saying how friendly he was. The man was just going to walk him back over to the park, near where he found him, and let him go. That sounded a little sketchy to me, especially since the dog almost got hit by a car already. I thought for sure something bad would happen to him if was just "let go". So, I offered up my fenced in back yard for the time being until we decided what to do. Melissa and I ended up walking our neighborhood looking for an owner or anyone who recognized the dog. No luck! Melissa drove around afterwards trying to find someone out looking for a dog but still no luck! So, the dog spent the night in our back yard and we spent the night listening to the dog bark! It wasn't constant but it was fairly often and of course the barking would make Scooter (our 12 pound mix) start growling. It all made for some really great sleep! haha We called animal control this morning and they came and picked him up. They seemed pretty positive that he had an owner and they would come claim him. The moral of my story is that if you have a dog and you let it outside make sure it has a tag! It's a real pain trying to find a lost dogs home and it's kind of sad too! So, tag up your dogs - they deserve it!

It's been too long
I don't even know where to start? It's been so long since I've blogged - only 2 weeks, but I feel like a lot has happened since then.

Avery and I took a trip on the big airplane (not Papa's) to Birmingham, AL to visit my best friend Jaime. We had a great time and had some much needed "girl time". Avery was a big girl on the plane and did really well!

While we were away we got a contract on our house -we were really happy because it had only been listed for right at 2 weeks!!! We signed a contract on a new construction house in a neighborhood a few miles from us. We plan on closing on both houses on May 2nd! This is what it looks like today.
Next, Avery had her first official haircut at a real salon. It was just Fantastic Sam's but we went anyway and took some snapshots. She did really well but had to sit on Mommy's lap and suck on a lolipop. Her hair looks shorter but we got some of the baby fine hair trimmed away so hopefully it will grow in nicer!

Next was Easter - I didn't take any pictures of Avery in her Easter dress but you can look at our pictures of her Easter dress on the phanfare site. She had it on the day we took our daffodil field pictures. Anyway, she went to an egg hunt at her friend Madalynn's grandparents house. We had a great time. It was beautiful weather! Avery got lots of candy and she gladly shared it with mommy and daddy on the way home! haha

15 week appointment
Well, there isn't much to say this month - which is a good thing! I had another check up this morning and everything is looking great. The baby's heartbeat (160 bpm) was much easier to hear and find this time - so that was awesome! In 4 weeks we go back for the big ultrasound! I can't wait! It will be so much fun to see this little munchkin! I'll post some more pics soon.

Conversations with Avery
I got the idea of writing down conversations with Avery from my friend Megan...so here's our first installment....(at the dinner table)
Me: "Oh, I am so tired!" (putting my head in my hands)
Avery: "What's matter Mama?"
Me: "Mommy is just tired and has a headache"
Avery: "I sorry Mama"
Me: "Thank you Avery, but I'm okay"
Avery again: "What's matter Mama?"
Me: "Nothing Avery" - (I didn't want to explain again)
Avery: "Oh, nothin'" "Mama?"
Me: "Yes, Avery"
Avery: "I so tired!"
When she doesn't get her way...
Avery: I want yogurt Mama.
Me: You already had some today. You can't have anymore.
Avery: I ask Daddy.
Me: You can ask Daddy but he is going to say the same thing.
Avery: I ask Bubba (our dog Scooter)
Me: You can ask Bubba but he is a dog and he can't answer you.
Avery: Bubba, I want yogurt.
Bubba: *silence*
14 weeks
Technically I am in my second trimester now. How exciting! It's been 10 weeks since I found out I was pregnant and that time has just flown by! I have been reading that some people can feel baby movements earlier on in their second pregnancy so, I have been laying in bed the last few nights trying to be really still. Last night I felt the baby!!! It's really one of those feelings that you recognize only because you've felt it before. I know I didn't feel Avery move until around 17 or 18 weeks. But this was definitely baby! It's just another reassurance that everything is okay and growing.
I go in for my monthly check up on Friday (15 weeks) and I'll get to hear the heartbeat again. I'm looking forward to that too! Then in another month we will have the big ultrasound. We are considering taking Avery with us to that appointment. I think that she would get a kick out of it! We are trying to make her feel like this is a big part of her life as well and not just Mommy and Daddy's.
Here is where the baby's progress should be...
At 14 weeks the baby is about 3 1/2 inches (the size of a lemon) and weighs about 1 1/2 ounces! The baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck it's thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, baby's facial muscles are getting a workout as it's tiny features form one expression after another. Baby's kidneys are producing urine, which it releases into the amniotic fluid around it — a process it'll keep up until birth. Baby can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch baby sucking it's thumb.

Just had to share a funny thing Avery said tonight after dinner. We were sitting at the table and she had finished what she was eating, raised her hands up and said "It's time to watch Mickey!" I thought it was so funny! It was one of the most complete sentences she has ever said! Then she was saying "It's Mickey time!" "It's Mickey time!". She loves Mickey Mouse - I can't wait to take her to Disney World one day!

To the craftsman
I just wanted to give props to my dad for making Avery an awesome toy box. It is so beautiful and means so much to us! We picked it up this weekend on our very short trip to GA, and I must say it is really cool! It's all white with a bead board type side and even has a little plaque enscribed on the inside - "Made with love by Grandad". Awww! My dad has always been quite the handy mandy but this is the best and most special project he has ever done for me (or technically Avery). Don't think I don't appreciate all the pictures and shelves you've hung for me over the years Dad! I love you! Thanks for the hard work - it will be cherished for years to come! I'll try to post a picture in the next day or so.
