Newell Batchelor was born in 1911 and when I met her at the age of 88 she still lived by herself in a little apartment in Athens, GA. She moved in with her daughter when she was in her 90's but always maintained her quick wit and independence. She never learned to drive a car and she never voted. She was a sweet little Nanny that to me was always lovely and complimentary. We had hoped she would make it to the age of 100, so we could put her on the Smucker's Jelly Jar with Willard Scott. The Lord had other plans and he called her home on November 19th.
It's hard to be too saddened by her loss, since looking back at her life, she had been blessed with a beautiful family - 20 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren. We rejoice that she did not suffer and went peacefully home, but we mourn the loss of our family treasure! We love you Nanny!

I love older ones that can teach us so much. God bless her family that she leaves behind. She is dancing on the mighty streets now.
I know you all will miss her.
