Meet the Pirates

We recently went to the annual Meet the Pirates event at ECU. It's a fun afternoon at the stadium where you get a chance to meet the football players and coaches for the upcoming football season. To be honest we didn't "meet" any players - we took the girls to play and to see Peedee the Pirate. We all had a lot of fun, even though it was super hot outside!
Oh, and the little girl that you see in the Georgia outfit was of course Ryan's little mini me! Riley wanted to dress up as a cheerleader and we don't have an ECU outfit so she put on her Georgia one. It was one of those times that we didn't want to fight with the 2 year old, so we agreed and let her wear it. She marched around so proud of her outfit that day and had no idea that she was the only one wearing red...it kind of made me proud of her. :) Needless to say she stuck out like a sore thumb and she even got a few "comments" that weren't exactly nice. We didn't want to offend any of our pirate friends but she was super cute and she reminded us of our good ole Dawgs that day. :) Thanks Riley Roo.

Back to School Splash

We had a "Back to School Splash" party at our friends pool the week before school started for Avery. It was so fun to get together with a lot of our friends and celebrate this new chapter in our oldest children's lives. Our friends, The Thorps, let us come over and party at their pool. It was so neat seeing all the kids and how big they have gotten and to celebrate this new year for them all. Here are a few pics.

Oh, and this was the first time all summer that Riley would wear her life jacket and swim in the pool by herself. She was so proud and she did such a good job - swimming all around and even jumping off by herself!

I've always wanted to do that...

...play in a fire hydrant that is. We left to run errands one morning and when we came back the fire hydrant at the end of the street was open. The girls had so much fun playing in the water. They were both soaked by the end of it. It was a hot day - temps close to 100 - so it felt good!

Little bit of nothing

Today the girls both went to VBS at St. James from 9-12. I know you are saying "This is the 3rd week of mornings without kids!!" It's been so great but the time goes by so fast. I had the chance to clean the house really well the first week - we had just come back from vacay and it was a wreck, I've spent a lot of mornings at the gym, went to breakfast and then the pool one morning with my friend Shelley (those 3 hours flew by), I'm donating blood tomorrow morning and then hopefully will just hit the gym again the rest of the week.

It's made the time in the afternoon with the girls a little more fun. That's where this picture comes in.
We spent the afternoon outside in our little pool and had a lot of fun splashing around. At one point I told Avery to write her name on the fence with her squirt gun thing. She did a pretty good job! You might have to look really hard to see each letter but they were there. :)

We finished up the day with a yummy new meal from E-mealz, chocolate chip cookies and toenail painting. :)

Anyway, that's all. Just thought the picture was cute and would explain what I've been doing the past few weeks. 3 weeks from tomorrow Avery starts Kindergarten!!!! AHHHH
