Our Thankful Tree

I found a cute idea awhile back on a blog about making a "Thanks" tree and putting leaves on it that say all the things you are thankful for.

It's kind of like an advent thing...you put a new leaf on it each day with something you are thankful for. Anyway, I decided to draw a tree on a piece of cardboard (something we had around the house)  and each day we will add a new leaf. Avery helped me do some of the tree and we picked out a bible verse that we both liked and added it as well.

After we made this cute tree and had such grand ideas of things to be thankful for, Avery's first "thanks" was for her toys. It's an honest answer from a 4 year old and I couldn't fault her for it. So, our very first leaf says "Avery is thankful for toys". :) I plan on adding leafs from Mommy and Daddy and we might guess for Riley - since she can't verbalize these things yet. :)

Psalm 9:1 "I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart..."
On the back of this cardboard, we are going to do a "Giving Tree" for December. It's what we are trying to focus on, not the receiving side of Christmas but the giving. So stay tuned in December for that one! :)

Your tree looks so cute!! I love how you are letting 'A' have ownership over so much of the project too! Can't wait to read about your Giving Tree!
