Here is the post...almost 2 weeks overdue. haha
WE DID IT!!!!
I am so proud of Shelley, Melissa and myself!!! We worked so hard over the past 3 months. We ran pushing strollers, we ran in 30 degree weather, we ran in the rain and 30 mph wind gusts. It was crazy! Really! But we "suffered" through and we accomlished our goal!
We are runners!
We finished the race in 30:15 which was about a 10:23 mile. Melissa and I finished 12 and 13 in our age bracket out of 40 something people. Shelley is a few years younger than us...so she wasn't in the same group. :)
There was one little glitch during the race. I twisted my ankle before the first mile and fell on my hands. I remember going down and in slow motion I was yelling "NNNNNOOOOOOO!!!" I couldn't believe I was falling! It was one of those "your life flashes before your eyes moments" because I literaly saw the last 10 weeks of training jamming into my brain. It was crazy! I was NOT having it. As soon as I hit the ground, I knew my ankle was fine. My faithful friends stopped, picked me up and I started running again. I was not going to let this stop us and I was not going to go down with out fighting! The more I ran the better my ankle felt but my hands burned the whole race. I am so thankful that God protected me and didn't allow me to get seriously injured. That would have been so dissapointing.
I have to give a shout out to our AWESOME friends that took time out of their Saturday morning to come cheer us on. You guys ROCK! Thank you so much for your support that day and for encouraging us during the last few months! Friends like you are what makes events like this so much more fun...it's always better to share it with someone! So, thanks to KK, Adam and the boys, Michelle, Anna & Joshua, Abby & Madalynn, my BFF Jaime, Kristen and Jennifer for running along side us the last bit with your strollers and Tammy-even though you were really there to support your husband :)!
Okay one more thing. Thanks to my family for supporting me. Ryan has been amazing and so encouraging. He was always willing to watch the girls when I needed to run at night (and still is). He knew how important this was to me and he never made me feel like I shouldn't be taking time out to do this. Also, my girls put up with A LOT! The constant car trips to the place where we trained, the 2 weeks prior to our stroller cover purchase when their little cheeks were rosy after the freezing weather, sitting in the stroller during each training session...the list goes on. They endured and I am forever grateful!
Alright that's it. If you read this far then you can enjoy the pictures below! haha

Way to go! I love the little video at the end. Have fun continuing to train for the next big race:)
What a special post! It was so fun cheering you on and seeing you girls cross that finish line!! Wouldn't have missed it for anything, my dear friend! Love ya!
I loved reading this. It makes me smile everytime to know that WE DID IT. It was worth every cold day, every windy day and everything that we went through. The accomplishment is amazing. Can't wait to keep training. xoxoxo
